Honor has unveiled the Magic 9 Pro Max, the latest addition to its Magic 9 series in China; it features a 200 MP main camera, an 8,800 mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme processor.
Honor announced the Magic 9 Pro Max, the flagship model of the Magic 9 series, in China today. The phone stands out with features such as a large camera module developed in collaboration with Arri, a 200-megapixel main sensor, and an 8,800-mAh battery.
Camera and Imaging Features
Inspired by Arri’s 1937 three-lens “crane” design, the camera module houses three different lenses: a 200 MP main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor), a 3.5x telephoto lens with the same resolution (1/1.4-inch sensor), and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It also offers Arri LogC3 recording, 14 built-in Arri Look LUTs, and support for the 10-bit 4:2:2 APV codec. Additionally, it features a “cinema-grade” directional microphone and a square-format front-facing camera.
Performance and Battery
The Magic 9 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Honor noted that this chip was selected—despite not supporting the highest benchmarks, such as 8K60 or 4K240 video recording—to ensure a consistent flagship experience. The phone’s 8,800 mAh battery, with 40% silicon content, promises long-lasting use.

Honor’s collaboration with Arri demonstrates its effort to bring smartphone photography closer to cinematic quality.
